I hope this letter finds you happy and well. I am writing to inform you that my surgery on December 20 was a success! Due mostly to genetics, I had to have an open heart operation to repair my aorta and the aortic valve. I am grateful to my surgical team for the good outcome. Now the recovery begins. Because of the significance and intensity of this procedure, I will be out of the office for approximately 2 months for the recuperation and rehab phase.

In the interim Neck Back & Beyond Healing Arts will be open, albeit on a more limited basis. We have several therapists that can help with your ongoing health needs and are available for bodywork at our office.

Dr. Tomson's Tip

From Thich Nhat Hahn, the Buddhist monk:
Breathing in, my whole body is harmonied with the in-breath.

When I drive around the Washington DC area I find that traffic can be very bothersome, especially when I miss a stoplight that I "think" I should have made. The red light is my cue to slow down, to look around and see something that I didn't notice before. I use my breath to bring me back to the present moment. Calming, relaxing, centered.
